Description:
Oversees various divisions providing human services, energy assistance. Promotes and encourages the development and expansion of statewide & local recreation programs for all New Jersey Citizens. Also develops and disseminates recreation-related material to agencies engaged in fostering recreation. Programs include handicapped person’s recreational opportunities, athletics, certification for recreation, technical assistance to local and county recreation department and the Garden State Games Committee on the Disabled.
Homelessness Prevention Hotline 866-889-6270. NJ residents, who are unable to manage their rent/mortgage payments because of a temporary crisis, may be eligible for a one- time interest-free loan from the State.
Section 8 Housing Program
The Home Energy Assistance Program helps very low-income residents with their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance within the Home Energy Assistance Program.
